Zi Char Box

Da Xiao Ren is a Cantonese folk ritual for driving away xiao ren (小人), the “petty people” in one’s life: backstabbers, gossips, rivals, or anyone bringing bad luck or obstruction. It comes from southern Chinese folk religion and is most closely associated with Hong Kong.
However, you can find them in Singapore too. You can older folks providing these therapeutic experiences at Waterloo Street or 四马路.
The ritual usually have the client to write the name, birth details, or just a description of target on a paper figure. The practitioner then beats the figure hard with an old shoe while chanting rhythmic Cantonese curses and blessings.
This is beautiful traditional form of catharsis.

Whenever this person gets on your nerve, take the clog. Get ready and prepare the swear words in your head. It's okay to be vulgar and release the frustration.

Hit it harder than you play Bishi Bashi. Curse as if you are Eminem.
