A Tiny Atelier

Inspired by the Brazilian Portuguese word 'Cafuné', which translates roughly into the act of running one's fingers through the hair of a loved one.

Born and bred in Singapore, Crafune started as a small leather crafting atelier in the corner of Haji Lane, Kampong Glam. It begins with a team of two local craftsmen that focus on the bringing the therapeutic experience of leathercraft to Singapore and help people to express their love thru craft.

2018

We make small leather goods and conduct leather crafting workshops that focus on meaningful gifting, functional craftwork and quality bonding time. We created a series of DIY Kits for hobbyists or adventurous spirits to experience leather crafting at home.

2020

The pandemic took a toll on us and Crafune have to adapt quickly to survive. We pioneered virtual leather crafting workshop in Singapore and the support of our clients help us to overcome this difficult phase. We had to cease our production of small leather goods as the demand declined.

2022

With the invaluable support of our customers, we successfully navigated through the challenges posed by the COVID-19 period. This experience has motivated us to channel our efforts towards enhancing the company's capabilities, ensuring an even more comprehensive range of offerings for our valued customers.

2023

Crafune grew its team and adopted new technologies and machinery to meet the growing demand for functional leather goods and workshops. Crafune revived its production of leather goods.

The Leather Company

As the company evolves, the team grew larger and elevated its capability. Crafune not only wants to conduct leather crafting workshops but also pursues to bring its work to the global stage where the world would recognise Crafune as the leather company of Singapore.

Refinement & Test of Time

In the art and craft culture, knowledge and techniques are often passed down from one generation to the next generation.
Despite being a team of new-generation craftsmen without the legacy of a predecessor or a parent company, Crafune believes that combining their knowledge of traditional craftsmanship picked up through years of practice with new technologies and constant refinement of design could create products that transcend the test of time.

Sustainability

It's our home.

Reduce

One of Crafune's core principles has always been not to establish a business or hobby at the cost of our precious planet Earth. Growing up in Singapore, often called the garden city, we witnessed how the emphasis on Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle gradually shifted to merely focusing on recycling.

Although Crafune might not be the most environmentally friendly brand available, our primary goal is to lessen waste in the environment. We achieve this by utilizing leather sourced from the by-products of the food industry and ensuring the durability of our products, which consequently reduces the waste generated in the environment.

Back to Nature

Although attaining 100% biodegradability for all our materials remains unfeasible at present, the majority of the materials utilized in our workshops are both non-toxic and biodegradable. We are constantly looking out for new materials that decompose more readily and technologies that could help us to be more environmentally friendly.

We firmly reject greenwashing and unethical marketing practices, including the sale of PU/PVC leather or composite microfiber materials with substantial plastic content marketed as Vegan Leather. The manufacturing process frequently yields products that cannot be recycled due to their integration with other supporting materials, despite being advertised as recyclable plastics.

Upcycling

Deeply rooted in our Asian culture, we reuse whatever and whenever we can. Just like our leather are upcycled from waste products of food industry, we are embarking on our journey to give used leather goods or scraps left over from production a second life.
