In Japan, Kintsugi is the art of repairing broken pottery pieces with gold. Built on the idea of embracing imperfections and celebrating your flaws. Each ‘flaw’ makes you unique, forming your story.
When crushed or creased, the leather forms a lighter note of colours. This results in a distressed pattern, similar to kintsugi pottery. This pattern cannot be replicated and is uniquely yours forming a story between you and the leather.
Over time, the crease can also be polished away and develops a distinctive patina.* Similar to how time will change and smooth out flaws, *this leather will age gracefully.
For Craftsmen by Craftsmen
Our leather expert with experience over a decade will subject every selection of leathers to both aesthetics and quality checks. We stretched it, skived it, folded it and even craft with it to ensure it is suitable for crafting.
As craftsmen, we understand that some leather hides are simply not enjoyable when crafting with them. We are picky with what we use and we only sell what we will enjoy using.
